Ellen Mills Schwinger is a seasoned special education consultant with over 25 years of experience in diagnosing learning disabilities, developing IEPs, coordinating 504 Plans, and implementing RTI and MTSS frameworks. She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education and is a licensed Learning Disabilities Teacher/Consultant (LDT/C) in New Jersey, as well as a certified Special Education Specialist/Generalist in Colorado. Ellen has completed over 80 postgraduate credits specializing in instructional strategies for reading, written expression, mathematics, and inclusion. She is passionate about using research-based interventions to empower students, support families, and collaborate with schools to close achievement gaps.
ABOUT OUR ROLE

Arvada Learning & Advocacy specializes in IEP advocacy, providing guidance and support to parents, helping them understand the special education process and their rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Our approach combines facilitating communication, advocating for student needs, reviewing IEP documents, preparing for IEP meetings, resolving disagreements, and providing education and resources to empower families.
